Hi, my name is Chris. I'm a dedicated and passionate game designer and an experienced software engineer.

I have recently been expanding my knowledge and skills by attending the "Game Design" course at the Games Academy in Frankfurt (Main), Germany.

“Call of Carlos” is a 2D platformer game for Windows Phone 7, in which the player uses a grappling hook to swing from platform to platform.

“You take control of Carlos, an apathetic and chubby mexican miner. One day, while doing his daily mining business, he suddenly finds a rare diamond inside one of the mining shafts. As he tries to break it loose, lava emerges from the bottom of the shaft! Carlos quickly grabs the diamond, takes his trusty pickaxe and tries to escape the lengthy mineshafts!”

I'm responsible for designing the mechanics, balancing the parameters, programming and doing all the technical stuff.

Since the game has been released in February 2012 it can be downloaded for free from the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Breaking Bones – The 10 Hours Project

“Breaking Bones” is a simple but challenging game for Windows Phone 7.

The player leaps between steel beams on either side of the screen by tapping it. He tries to avoid the ever-present deadly spikes while getting chased by a devastating laser beam.

This project has been entirely realized in just 1 night of work by me and my fellow designer Steve Haßenpflug. Everything was done in exactly 10 hours – including design, programming and creation of graphics and sounds.

“Kao's Mask” is a third-person single-player 3D action-adventure game set in a mystic fantasy world.

The player controls two characters – a human treasure hunter and a demon girl – through an ancient temple ruin. There are two distinct dimensions, in which each of the characters can act and interact with the elements of that specific realm. The player switches dimensions and makes the characters work together in order to solve puzzles and defeat their enemies.

This is my second project in the context of my study at the Games Academy. I'm responsible for technical game design, interface design and prototyping the mechanics.

Epoch

“Epoch” was an Online Trading Card Game on PC, which I had developed together with a colleage in the context of my bachelor thesis in computer science.

Its rules were similar to those of some well known traditional TCGs, but using the benefits of the PC platform to incorperate advanced calculations in a complex battle system. Players had to log in to the server using their individual account in order to use the in-game lobby to chat, find opponents and to create or join matches.

At present, the game can not be played due to the server being shut down. This was done because development wasn't quite finished and both of us needed time to concentrate on other projects and further education.
